Iran short ‘Son of the sea’ to vie in Seoul fest

Iranian short ‘Son of the Sea’ is to compete at the 23rd SICAF in South Korea.

Directed by Abbas Jalali-Yekta, the Iranian short ‘Son of the Sea’ has been scheduled to compete at the 23rd edition of the Seoul International Cartoon & Animation Festival (SICAF) in South Korea.

The short animation narrates the story of a couple who lives in a house with the illusion of a boy on the wall! The presence of this boy gradually makes some changes in their life.

The short has also made its way into the competition program of the 2019 edition of the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in France.

Some 103 animated films from 28 countries will go on screen at the SICAF.

The SICAF is an annual showcase festival of animation, cartoon and related art genres held in Seoul, South Korea since 1995. It is sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the city of Seoul.

The festival has exhibitions, showing of animation films, promotion booths and various special events. There are an official competition section and an invited guest section. Awards are given to the categories of long animation, short animation, TV & commissioned works, and internet animation.

The 23rd edition of the SICAF is slated for July 17-21, 2019.
